There are several ways the parents can help the center throughout the year. Below is a list of the different ways in which parents help is needed.

WORK DAY
Work Day is a time of the year in which parents, teachers, and church members get together and work on classrooms and playgrounds. We have one Work Day in the Fall and one in the Spring. Lunch and childcare is provided. Work Days are scheduled on Saturdays. The time is usually from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m.

ROOM PARENTS
Room Parents are in charge of planning parties, get togethers ( especially at graduation time ), calling other parents about special events, and deadlines for things, such as, fundraiser money, etc. We have a Room Parent Coordinator and Room Parents.

1. Room Parent Coordinator-works with the teachers and calls other Room Parents to remind them of upcoming events such as: upcoming classroom events, work days, coordinates the end of the year party, Week Of The Young Child, and check with the teacher for the things needed on the wish list for the classroom or playground.

2. Room Parents ( usually 4 or 5 needed )-works with the Room Parent Coordinator and the teacher for the things mentioned above.

FUNDRAISER COORDINATOR
Fundraiser Coordinator is in charge of working with the school’s fundraiser chairperson and the teachers for different fundraising events planned. He/She may assist in reminding parents about deadlines.

FIELDTRIP VOLUNTEER
Fieldtrip volunteers are always welcomed, especially for big events such as: Sesame Street Live and any end of the year event planned. You are usually assigned to a group of children ( no more than you can bare ). The teachers will let you know if their are certain details you may need to be aware of. Please remember, if you are assigned to a child(ren), they must be with you at all times and may not be left alone.

DONATIONS
We accept all donations. It could be money or something you would like to purchase or make for the classroom or for outside. There are many things we are in constant need of such as: scotch tape, paper, staples, glue, markers, magazines, or anything we could use for art. A big need we have right now is things to set up an office. Things needed are: calculators, adding machines, typewriters and telephones. We are in desperate need of adult clothes and shoes. We could use anything you may have for a doctor’s office. if you have something you think we could use, please let us know.

BOOK ORDERS
Book Orders are sent out every month or every other month. The center receives points for every book that is ordered. The points are usually saved or used to purchase books or a large item such as the TV in our room. We had saved several thousand points to get the TV. To sum it up, if books are purchased, we profit from the sale. It could be used by purchasing things from the Bonus Catalog or from ordering books from the month’s book order.
